Another 20 will move to the village of Velykyi Hlybochok in the Biletska community. The memorandum was concluded between the Zaporizhzhia and Ternopil regional administrations, the boarding school, the Biletska village council, the Kozova settlement council, and the charitable foundation “Smile UA.” The signing of this document is our first step in implementing this project, – said Svitlana Boiko, Director of the Department of Social Protection of the Population of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration.

The relocation of the boarding school residents to Ternopil will be assisted by the charitable foundation “Smile UA.” The organization will carry out repair work in two buildings within the communities. They will be additionally equipped with necessary furniture, equipment, and household appliances. After the repairs, Liubomyrivka Psychoneurological Boarding School will sign a lease agreement for the buildings to accommodate its residents. Social workers in the communities will help them adapt.

Deputy Head of Zaporizhzhia RSA Mykhailo Semikin thanked the memorandum participants for supporting vulnerable residents of the region.

– I want to express my gratitude to all parties of this memorandum for their support and assistance to the most vulnerable residents of Zaporizhzhia region. Thanks to this project, 60 people who require constant care will have the opportunity to live not only in safety but also in comfortable conditions. Ternopil region and the charitable foundation “Smile UA” have already demonstrated their support more than once and have become our reliable partners in the reform of psychoneurological institutions, – emphasized Mykhailo Semikin.

Previously, Zaporizhzhia RSA signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership with the Boryslav City Council in Lviv region. According to it, another part of the residents of Liubomyrivka Psychoneurological Boarding School will be relocated to the community in Lviv region.

The relocation of Zaporizhzhia boarding institutions to safer regions is part of the Strategy for Reforming Psychoneurological Institutions for Adults. The strategy also envisages the further transformation of such institutions into supported living homes, where conditions for residents will be as close as possible to home.
