May News from Shcherbynivka

While the builders were completing the roof of our supported living home in Shcherbynivka, Maksym and Sashko, the residents of the house, were mastering carpentry skills. They built shoe racks that are much sturdier than those available in stores. Thanks to your donations, we purchased an electric planer, a jigsaw, and the necessary materials for the guys to work on such projects.

So, the roof over the extension has been installed, and the roof of the entire house has also been renovated. We have already ordered two windows for the extension and are moving on to insulation and interior work (electrical wiring, flooring, ceiling, plastering, and heating).

Let me remind you that our house currently consists of one large room and two small ones. At the moment, we cannot accommodate more than two people because, first, we do not have enough space for another resident (this issue will be solved once the extension is completed), and second, we need additional funding to support two more residents.

I would also like to remind you that, in addition to this house, we support the neighboring Bardysh family in Shcherbynivka (two parents with disabilities and a small child), as well as the family-type children's home of Liliya Tymofieieva and the guardian family of Liudmyla Sheludko.

The assistance that is urgently needed right now may be financial, as well as in the form of building materials (cement, plaster, polystyrene foam, cables, electrical supplies, furniture, etc.), or volunteer help with construction and renovation work.

We would be grateful for your support of this project, which allows people with disabilities to live in normal home conditions rather than in an institution. Thank you for your shares and donations!

We also greatly need media support in promoting the deinstitutionalization of care for people with intellectual and mental disabilities.
